Miss Milla needs glasses.... hopefully just for the next few months until her problem is corrected. Surprisingly enough, she LOVES them. I think it because she has them and her sister doesn't.

Belle is extremely jealous... but don't feel sorry for her. She has a new special friend that is only for her. Mrs. Cheri is Belle's speech therapist. She calls Cheri her very best friend. And she only gets to play with her, not her sister. Belle doesn't mind rubbing it in Milla's face. Needless to say, this makes Milla very jealous. And so the cycle begins, where one wants what the other has... no matter what it is....

I haven't uploaded a video in an extremely long time. I enrolled Milla and Belle in a ballet class. Sweet, huh? They are the perfect age to start. And all Milla has talked about for the last month is being a ballerina. We haven't gone yet, we start next Wednesday. I took them shopping today after school for their outfits. They had the best time. Check out this video of them in the dressing room of Target!

The girls had their first big stage performance. It was a Christmas Program for thier school, Cornerstone Academy. It was the cutest thing ever. Their class (3&4 year olds) were assigned to sing Away in a Manger and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

Much to my surprise, Belle did better than Milla. Belle sang both songs and did all of the little hand movements. Milla had a little stage fright but she sure knew how to end the show...

It was too cute for words. I wish we had recorded it.

So I am a little behind on blogging.... But the girls had their first school party. They got to dress up like farmers and bring their favorite stuffed animal to class. They had a blast. They are really enjoying school.

Sweet Baby Antonio

I keep this blog to record the life of my children. I would be a failure as a mother if I didn't include something about the life of sweet Baby Antonio (aka Ants). I found out I was pregnant in August. It was a big surprise to us because it happened naturally, whereas, we thought we could only get pregnant through infertility treatments. We knew early on that this pregnancy was different. I have a uterine abnormality which leaves me with half a functioning uterus. With any pregnancy, my miscarriage rate is high at about 40-50%. It is a risk that we have to take. It was thought since my last twin pregnancy was successful that this one, being a singleton, would be too. But it wasn't. We knew from about week 7 that there was a small bleeding area above the baby. It grew and grew. Soon enough my entire uterus was bleeding. There was nothing we could do but hope and pray. We lost Ants at almost 15 weeks on October 31, 2010.

As sad as it is, we are at peace with things. We know he is in a better place and his life here on earth just wasn't meant to be a very long one. I found out today the pathology report. We don't really know what truly caused the pregnancy to end. Not only did I have issues, but there were low levels of amniotic fluid and the umbilical cord was tightly wrapped around his little body. If this didn't end when it did, it was soon to get a lot worse. The sex was not determined. The doctor said he could probably have it figured out, but I opted out. I refer to the baby as a boy. In one of the last ultrasounds, the tech and I swore we saw a penis. That was all the conformation I needed.

As for the name...It is a funny story worth sharing. I had 16 different ultrasounds with this baby. I was in the doctors once a week, sometimes up to three times a week. For some reason, this day I had issues with child care and decided it would just be easier to take the girls (and Juan too) to the ultrasound appointment. I had been on bed rest for the last month or so of my pregnancy. The girls knew mommy's belly hurt and that I had to stay in bed. During the ultrasound, the girls watched the screen as patiently as three year olds could. The tech was talking and I was asking lots of questions. Belle out of the blue started talking. "Mommy, what's that?" before I could respond, she said, "You got ants in your belly." The tech busted out laughing. "What did you say, Belle?" I asked. "Mommy, you got ants in your belly!" "No Belle, it is a baby in Mommy's belly, not ants." "No, it's ants" she said as she pointed to the screen. "You ate ants and they are in your belly" she continued, "why did you eat ants?" Everyone couldn't help but laugh at her. I guess in a three year old's mind it looked like ants and to her my belly hurt because I ate them. It was as simple as that. I swear we had a 5 minute conversation about there being ants in my belly. It was the funniest thing ever and it really lightened the serious mood of the situation. From then on, Belle would point out that my belly hurt because of ants and that I should not have ate them. She would often ask if my ants hurt. I don't think she ever caught on that there was a baby inside. So we called him baby Ants... I figured the name Antonio would be a more appropriate, official name for him.

Life is getting back to normal and moving on. The healing process has only begun and I can only imagine it takes a lifetime to complete. Juan and I are so grateful for all of those who helped us out during this trying time. A special thanks to Amy, for watching my kids for all expect 1 doctor appointment. A huge, even specialer thanks to my mom, who will always be there to save day. And to everyone else for their love and generosity. It means so much to know that you have friends and family that will drop anything just to help you.

It all started with this...

the girls were playing outside and I decided to clean out the baby pool. The weather over the weekend was fabulous (in the 70's) and we missed it because we were so busy with a million things to do. We didn't get a chance to enjoy it at all. So today, I thought I would pull out the pool and get it cleaned up for future use...

This immediately caught the girls attention and soon it became this...

They got excited... maybe a little too much.

And stripped down and jumped in.

And then the fun began...

Milla screamed, "Jeepers Mom, it is cold!" Haha I couldn't help but laugh and feel a little sorry for her. So I got their swimsuits out and added a couple of hot bucket of water to the pool.

Belle didn't like the swimsuit idea and stripped back down to nothing. She didn't seem to mind...

They even had fun outside the pool...

Good thing this one wasn't in focus. She might kill me in a few years.

Berries

So Belle and I started to pick some cherries (aka berries) off of our tree. Belle really got into it.

We picked more than we could hold. So Belle decided she need a bucket.

We picked a few more... and then we got to the ones we couldn't reach.

We called in reinforcements!

We didn't need him for long. Belle wanted to do all of the work.

And she did.

He did come in handy, holding the bucket and all....

Belle picked and picked. It didn't matter what color... red, green, brown.

This day two years ago...

I rolled out of bed. It was a BIG day for me. I had lots to do. I had to go to the store and pick up a cake for Juan, I had to go pick up my mom from the airport, lunch was on the schedule along with shopping. I had been on bed rest for 2 months and this was my chance to get out.

I got dressed and did my hair. I even remember what I wore, black capris and a red t-shirt. I waddled my way down stairs to find the only shoes I could wear, my black Wal-Mart flip flops. I bent over to pick up my purse and felt a little leakage, just a tiny bit. So I fix the problem with a Kotex and went out the door. The doctor told me it was normal. I was sooo big and there was no room for the babies. So there would be pressure on my bladder. I thought nothing of it and left.

Got to Fred Meyer to pick up a bug cake for Juan. He had a big meeting that day at work and ordered the cake last minute. I get into the store and I felt a little bit more leakage. Okay, this started to get annoying. I went to the bathroom and fixed the problem. Got the cake. Paid for the cake and then it happened again....just a little tiny bit. I go back to the bathroom with the cake. Put the cake on the diaper changing sation and fixed the problem. It wasn't much at all, so it didn't worry me.

Got in the car and started to drive to the airport. My mom was flying in early to help me get ready for my babies. A few miles down the road, the thought came to my mind.."Megan, maybe you should call your doctor and tell him what is going on". So I did. I talked with the nurse and she told me to come in about 1pm. She didn't think it was a big deal, but she wanted to check just incase. It was perfect timing. I had time to pick up my mom, drop off the cake, hit a drive thru and then go to my doctor's appointment.

I get to the airport and I park in the cell phone parking lot. I was a little bit early and didn't want to pay 5 bucks to park. My mom calls and lets me know she has landed. Right then I felt a little bit more. Oh man, now I was worried. There was no bathroom and I wondered if my pants were wet. So I called my mom and told her I wouldn't be coming inside to get her, that she needed to meet me out side. Oh my goodness, she was soooo mad! This was the first time in like 25 years she has flown. She freaked out and was cursing. I told her to deal with it and gave her directions to where I would meet her.

She took forever!!! I kept calling to ask if she had got her bags yet. She told me no and then she gave me another ear-full about how awful of a daughter I was for leaving her alone in a big, scary airport. Then I told her what was going on, and that shut her up and got her out the door.

I picked her up on the curb and we were off. I had to drop off the cake, which was on the way to the hospital. I got a call from the nurse asking how I was doing. She told me the doctor was mad and worried that I needed to get there asap. So I called Juan to have him meet us outside and to bring my mom some lunch from the Microsoft cafeteria. I remember my mom complaining about having to get a crappy salad from a cafeteria, that it was a step below airport food. My mom cracks me up.

I told Juan what was going on, that I needed to go get checked out. I asked if he wanted to come with us. But of course, his meeting came first and he told me to call if I really needed him. Hahaha little did he know.

Then we were off to the hospital. I parked and then stepped out of the car into a huge puddle of water. My mom came around to help me and then she screamed "Megan, your water broke!" I gave her the evil eye and told her it just rained. She said she knew, that she was just making fun of me.... as always!

We got into the doctor's office, and he checked me out and decided today was the day I would have my babies. And it was. The nurse told us it was going to be about 8 hours before they could get me in. The doctor had other plans. I was in the operating room about an hour and a half after I got there. My mom called Juan. He got a cab and came to the hospital and made it just in time for the surgery. He had to miss his meeting, poor guy.

My mom finally stopped complaining about her trip and about her food when the staff told her that she could join Juan and I in the delivery room. I had a c-section and within 10 minutes my babies were born a minute a part.

After that it all seemed like a daze. Belle was first. I don't remember her crying much. They took her off to the NICU for an hour or so to make sure her lungs were okay. Milla came out kicking and screaming, much like today. I remember the anesthesiologist asked us what the names were and we told him we know the names but we don't know which one is which. And he made a comment about how the second one, then screaming, sounded more like a Camilla. Mom and I agreed. And that is how Milla got her name. Meanwhile, while Juan was with Belle in the NICU, he was calling her Camilla, too. So for the first hour of their life, they were both named Camilla. We fought who should be who, but I won of coarse!

I spent the next 5 days in the hospital. My dad got jealous that my mom was having all the fun. So, he flew last minute to check out these babies.

My mom stayed for a month to help me out. My dad left a few days later and then he came back three weeks later.

I didn't have to change a diaper or an outfit for the first month of their lives. Thank goodness for Moms! They may complain alot but they do come in handy. I was pretty ill for the next month. My incisions got infected and I was down longer than planned. Juan's mom came for two weeks after my mom left. Perfect timing!

These girls are now 2 years old and I can't believe it! Time flies when you are stressed and sleep deprived. They are a handful and they drive me crazy most days, but I can't imagine lift without them!

The other night, Juan was praying with the girls and he said, " please bless Nana, Papa Tom, Tita, VicTio, Astrid, and Ethan" Normally, Milla will say all the names with Juan. Sometimes they include Dora and Boots. Anyhow, on this night, Juan forgot to say a name. Milla unfolds her arms, puts her hands on her hips and screams "and MATT-MOOOOO". It was super cute.
